Calvin Klein has channeled all the energy of the Big Apple for his new fragrance Downtown, a vibrant mix of musk, violet, and pink peppercorns brought to life by mysterious actress Rooney Mara. So, it’s no wonder that the iconic fashion brand wanted a great marketing campaign that would capture all the thrill of the metropolis in his latest scent.


Americhip created a Video in Print™ magazine insert featuring Rooney Mara in a black and white short film, directed by David Fincher and soundtracked by the sparkling beats of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The short clip takes consumers to the heart of hectic New York, as they follow in the footsteps of a young woman who knows what she wants and takes risks to get there. The video instantly activates when the insert is opened.

The magazine insert was featured in a special edition of Vogue and was sent to selected fashion and lifestyle bloggers. Recipients also received a sample of the new 'Downtown' Fragrance and were invited to tweet with a specific hashtag.

The ad generated social media buzz quickly upon its release, including Facebook discussions, tweets, re-tweets and YouTube videos. The large amount of online conversations allowed the magazine insert to reach a much larger audience than would've ever been possible with a traditional magazine ad.
